MetOx manufacturing technology produces high quality HTS material using nano-engineering at the atomic level.

MetOx uses the same proprietary one pass metal organic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD) process for all buffer and high temperature superconductor (HTS) layers.

The continuous MetOx process results in very low cost HTS wire when operating at 25% of the conversion efficiency achieved in other commercial MOCVD applications.

With government support and validation, the revolutionary MetOx manufacturing process has proven YBCO deposition rates of 1.25 µm/min and critical current density (Jc) approaching 3,000,000 A/cm2.

In addition, the MetOx process benefits from a non-line of sight deposition area that accommodates wide wires and the simultaneous production of multiple wires.

The MetOx HTS wire architecture consists of a two material buffer stack followed by a single material HTS layer. All layers utilize the same proprietary MOCVD production process which results in simplicity, material uniformity, and equipment duplication throughout all manufacturing steps.

From our first pilot system through our planned full scale manufacturing roll out, all MetOx HTS wire manufacturing and finishing systems have been designed and built to be integrated into a truly continuous, low cost, high rate, HTS wire manufacturing process.

Duplicate production systems are low cost, compact and less complex than traditional superconductor process equipment. Clean rooms are not required and systems operate in a traditional manufacturing environment.

We are pleased to be a part of history.  Three space shuttle flights carried deposition experiments that increased the understanding of the epitaxial growth science underlying our manufacturing technology.
